Choosing a wine rack

If you appreciate great wine it's a good idea to invest in a quality wine rack. There are many wine racking styles and options to suit your individual needs and decor.

Plan

Consider how often you drink wine, how large your collection is likely to grow and where you will store your wine. A bench top wine rack is great for keeping a few bottles easily accessible for entertaining or for drinking on a regular basis. Larger wine racks, such as wall-mounted, modular or free standing, are ideal for bigger collections and are intended to store wine, rather than bottles to be opened immediately.

Sort

Sort your wine collections into reds, whites, dessert wines, etc. It’s also a good idea to take a count of how many wine bottles you have now and how big your collection may grow. Then take measurements starting with the maximum height, width and depth of the chosen space. It’s now time to take your measurements into Howards to determine the best solution.

Store

Once your wine rack has been installed, start by storing your wine by quality or colour. Store your most frequently used wine on the top levels of the wine rack and less used or wines to be aged on the lower levels. Ensure your wine is stored in a dark place out of direct sunlight. Optimum storage temperature is 10 – 12°C.
